CAT, S7, REX7, Railjet and airport buses

CAT

CAT by bus to Wien Mitte

CAT uses replacement buses between Vienna Airport and Wien Mitte/Landstraße, expected until the end of October 2027. The city stop is Marxergasse 1b, reached through the CAT foyer. At the airport, use Terminal 3, bus stop 0.

CAT publishes a 12-minute interval from 07:00 to 19:00 and a 15-minute interval outside those hours, within operating hours. Buses leave Wien Mitte from 05:30 to 23:15 and the airport from 06:10 to 23:37. The published journey time is about 21 minutes; road traffic can increase it.

City Check-In for checked baggage is suspended. Flight check-in and boarding-pass printing for selected airlines remain available in the CAT foyer. Check accessibility with CAT before travel: the buses are not all accessible.

S7

S7 terminates at Wien St. Marx

During the main closure, the airport S7 does not continue through Rennweg and Wien Mitte. At St. Marx, tram 18 connects towards Hauptbahnhof and tram 71 towards Rennweg and Karlsplatz.

Bus 74A provides a connection towards Landstraße/Stubentor. Wiener Linien currently lists a diversion towards Stubentor; check the current stops and onward route before departure.

REX7

REX7 to Vienna Central Station

REX7 is diverted to Wien Hauptbahnhof and stops at Kaiserebersdorf and Schwechat. Check ÖBB SCOTTY for the specific departure and journey time on your travel date.

At Hauptbahnhof you can change to metro U1, trams, buses and domestic or international trains.

Railjet / IC

Direct trains to Hauptbahnhof

ÖBB long-distance services, including Railjet and Intercity, continue between Vienna Airport and Wien Hauptbahnhof. A direct Railjet journey takes about 15 minutes; check the actual service in the ÖBB timetable.

This is useful for connections to other trains or metro U1. Do not assume every service runs at the same times each day.

Vienna Airport Bus

Five routes across Vienna

The network serves Westbahnhof via Hauptbahnhof (VAB1), Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz (VAB2), Donauzentrum via VIC (VAB3), Karlsplatz (VAB4) and Praterstern (VAB5).

The current operator timetables show about 26 minutes on VAB4 and 28 minutes on VAB5. Actual travel time depends on traffic. Check each route's operating hours; not every line runs all night.

Rail works

Main closure until late October 2027

The central S-Bahn route between Wien Hauptbahnhof/St. Marx and Wien Praterstern is closed for modernisation from 7 September 2026 until the end of October 2027. Airport trains cannot use their usual route through Wien Mitte.

The planned end date may change. Check the official works notice and your connection again shortly before travel.
